in sleep mode your system keeps all the programmes in memory which you were running before going to standby and the system uses very low resources of power.

I sometimes used the sleep feature on my windows 7 lapto. But mostly I used

the shut down feature the regular way. Even after installing windows xp on
my laptop, I find it slower than my desktop which has much lower
configuration. I have checked the ms config window and there is not much to

disable. I don't normally install too many programmes unless I need them.

Hi Amiyo,

My Windows XP is rusty. Go into the system configuration utility and see
what you can find. How are you shutting down your computer? I ask since I

am
running Windows 7 on my home desktop, a netbook and on the office laptop
without any problems.

Nod32 is ok in terms of system resource usage and 2GB of ram is ok too.
Is
your windows system fully patched?
Pranav
