The whole idea behind this policy was to make sure that right from the stage of manufacturing of any product, it should have accessibility imbedded in it. I vaguely remember reading draft of this policy long back, when we on the list were not happy with the way it was worded. As lot of things were left on future.
I have yet to study its current form, but it is surely a welcome step. Web accessibility and other things are not in the domain of this policy.
