Hi Ragesh,

Very good points. I too think we need to discuss all these points. But, if
you remember, I have written a very important thing: "one should try to
marry someone whom you could be friends with for the rest of your life"!
And one can only be friends when you both, both parties can discuss all the
below points openly and work things out for themselves. Every couple will
have different ways to deal with the below points. And anyway all of those
points have various solutions and then what happens in cases when blindness
attacks a partner when they have been long married? As I said, marriage is
much more than just these few points. There are so many challenges that
keep popping up in life all of the time; a well matched and successful
married couple is the one that can together trust and care enough to be
able to work around the challenges with a balanced mind and heart. And I
wish to mention one more thing here, we are all human and always expect
unknown changes happening around. But, don’t go into any relationship with
the view that slowly you will be able to change the other person with
whatever means you may think of! Therefore, it is very important to find
friendship and trust and remember both parties need to be givers and not
takers. The moment you begin looking at the taking aspect, things will fall
through. On the other hand, it is important to understand if you can live
like an indivisual in the partnership and allow your spouce to do the same
too! So there are no rules to this thing called marriage! One has to be
mature enough understand yourself first. Especially with blind people...
please do not look for solving your accessibility issues under the banner
of marriage!
And of course I have yet to identify what this thing called love is!
Warmly
Preeti

Even though we are discussing the topic, I think we are shunning discussion
about the real issue and are just boasting confidence by various means.
Granted the primacy of compatibility in matrimony, but the concept is too
abstract and we need an operational definition of the thing.
Besides, given inter marriages between sighted and blind both the genders
included, and intra marriages between blind, how and when blindness
becomes relevant and what are the repercussions?
Or do we say that if blindness becomes relevant, there is no compabibility?

Some pointers I would like to state as under:
1. is the possibility of having blind children considered/discussed/dealt
with?
2. Does the blind spouse feel that the sighted partner understands blindness
and issues arising therefrom on a long term basis well?
3. how Do spouses deal with lack of aesthetic visual inputs and outputs?
4. Does visual absence affect parenting styles, if yes how and to what
extent?
5. What effect blindness has on social life of the couple?
6. have the comparative studies of relative matrimonial satisfaction of
blind-sighted and blind-blind couples done and are the gender differences
considered in disability perspective?
7. How do the combinations affect sexual life?

I am not asking for research papers on these and various other issues, but
at least we can openly discuss various ramifications of blindness in
marriage with blind or sighted.
If we are just happy living in euphoria of blindness, then it is okay...
Rajesh

Shadab
thought not to write.
But, expressing idea is one thing and
showing linguistic prowess is another.
I quote:
"A gent never fears rejections and knows how to dismiss them. A gent never
cares about the impractical theory of one life one love. A gent knows he has
abundant beautiful options. A gent knows how to make her regret the decision
of rejecting him. A gent has a superb self-steam and never feels helpless in
front of one-sided or unrequited love. A gent never needs a female shoulder
because he knows how to solve his problems. A gent mocks most theories of
love portrayed in Bollywood. A gent knows how to make others wonder at his
toughness.
"

Now do you really subscribe to this approach?
Or is it merely a superficial statement to boast confidence like the god?
I believe it is later, and smacks of male arrogance and demeans love...

Do have second thoughts before just writing....

Your well wisher

Thanks ma'am that you found it amazing.

Friends, I think the trick is to value yourself, be thankful for your
talents, follow the basics of fashion, be tough, be brave and propose
the damn creature.

A gent never fears rejections and knows how to dismiss them. A gent
never cares about the impractical theory of one life one love. A gent
knows he has abundant beautiful options. A gent knows how to make her
regret the decision of rejecting him. A gent has a superb self-steam
and never feels helpless in front of one-sided or unrequited love. A
gent never needs a female shoulder because he knows how to solve his
problems. A gent mocks most theories of love portrayed in Bollywood. A
gent knows how to make others wonder at his toughness.

Cool?
