ANOUNCEMENT:- The National Federation of the Blind India, has been for the last four decades working towards protection of interest of all the visually impaired people. For raising voice in the interest of all the visually impaired brothers and sisters, the federation has undertaken different modes of advocacy like mass mobilization( protests, demonstrations ect), raising the issues through letters or through filing a PIL etc. Owing to the traditional way of raising voice for the interest of visually impaired people, a Rally is being organized on 16th April 2015 at Jantarmantar, si as to attract the attention of the Govt. towards the following urgent and boiling issues of persons with disabilities:- 1. 1. Implementation of Hon’ble Supreme Court judgment dt. 8.10.13 in the matter of Union of India & ors. Vs. National Federation of the Blind & ors. by amending office memorandum dt. 29.12.2005 so as to provide for computation of reservation of 3% vacancies in every establishment of appropriate Govt. against the total cadre strength and as well as by providing reservation in promotion also in group A & B post in terms of the said judgment read with judgment dt. 10.12.13 of Hon’ble Apex court in the matter of MCD Vs. Manoj Kumar Gupta and also the judgment dt.12.9.14 dismissing the petition of Union of India titled as Union Of India & Ors. Vs. National Confederation for Development of Disability And Anr. affirming the judgment of Hon’ble Bombay High court; 2. 2 The Union of India has identified that about 12,000 backlog vacancies still remain to be filled till date, out of which 3600 seats are reserved for visually impaired people. The apex court has directed the Union of India to fill these backlog vacancies within three months of the date of pronouncement of order of Supreme Court of India. Further the apex court has also directed the Union of India to submit an affidavit, stating the course of action through which backlog of vacancies will be filled. Even after so many days of the pronouncement of the order of the Supreme Court of India, no such affidavit has been submitted by the Union of the India.
