Hi George, While training stray dogs to work as guide dogs may sound like a win-win situation, it might not be practical due to the complexity of the job and the special breeds chosen for it. dogs receive training from a very young age before they are chosen to be guide dogs. Guide Dogs in the UK has a national breeding centre, where most dogs that go on to become guides are bred and trained. The training process for puppies is quite rigorous and many with the wrong temperament are rejected. Imparting such training to adult stray dogs with indeterminate breed and pairing them with willing blind clients may result in more harm than good.
