As I suggested, the thoughts mentioned in the blog are merely ideas. The
feasibility of the ideas will have to be established by professionals. In
recent times dogs have become a menace on campus and blind students have
been facing challenges in different college campuses. There is strong
opposition to the removal of dogs from animal lovers. At the same time
there is strong need to make the campus safe.

There are two ideas mentioned in my blog.

1. Using stray dogs as guide dogs on campus
2.Using guide dogs in smaller towns where crowds, noise, traffic etc is
relatively lower.

The ideas are worth exploring

Best,

George.

Hi George,

While training stray dogs to work as guide dogs may sound like a win-win
situation, it might not be practical due to the complexity of the job and
the special breeds chosen for it. dogs receive training from a very young
age before they are chosen to be guide dogs. Guide Dogs in the UK has a
national breeding centre, where most dogs that go on to become guides are
bred and trained. The training process for puppies is quite rigorous and
many with the wrong temperament are rejected. Imparting such training to
adult stray dogs with indeterminate breed and pairing them with willing
blind clients may result in more harm than good.
