Dear Listers:

Greetings from the Eyeway Helpdesk for the day!

Follow below the Daily Eyeway Alerts:

1. News Alerts-

Mobile clinic given to the District Differently Abled Rehabilitation
Department by Tamil Nadu Government promises to provide a wide
spectrum of therapies and treatments to the differently abled
children. Children of age group 0-6 with different kinds of
disabilities are being taken to the District Level Early Intervention
Centres designated for each disability for treatment. However the
difficulties in transporting such children to these centres discourage
care takers and they often skip visits. This factor remains an
impediment for differently abled children to make use of the
opportunity for the early intervention. This prompted the State
government to give a mobile clinic for those children. More at

The visually impaired will soon be able to use touchscreen cellphones
thanks to an application called Easy Access. The National Association
for the Blind (NAB) is all set to launch the application which will
help the visually impaired operate their cellphones through its
text-to-speech feature. "Users can just tap on the cellphone and
follow voice instructions in order to navigate," NAB chief executive
officer Homiyar Mobedji said. Mobedji was in the city to monitor the
progress of the application, which is being developed in all Indian
languages by city-based software firm Extentia Information Technology.

The Lahore High Court Thursday ordered the Punjab government to fill
posts advertised for disabled persons within three months. The court
also ordered government to advertise other posts identified for the
disabled in a month. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah passed these
interim orders on a petition filed by Judicial Activism Panel, a
public interest litigation firm, challenging non-implementation of
employment quota for disabled persons and non-allocation of funds for
them in the annual budget. More at
