Okay, sorry... but having been a VB programmer for over 15 years I still find it humorous when a newbie discovers that aspect of Microsoft.
I think this joke might help... I man was visiting a city and decided to take a helicopter of tour to get a birdseye view. The tour was going pretty well when suddenly a huge fog bank blew in obscuring things for miles around. The helicopter pilot flew around a bit trying fruitlessly to get his barings. Noticing he was running low on feul he knew it was time for a different tactic. So he told the guy to make a sign out some cardboard he had in the back asking "Where are we." and then he'd fly near a building. The guy did as instructed and the pilot maneuvered near a building and the guy held up the sign. The people in the building saw them and waved indicating they understood and then some of them went about making a sign. When they were done they held it up to the window. The sign side... "Your in a Helicopter." The pilot nodded, checked his gauges, and then took off into the fog. Several minutes later after securing landing at their desired destination the guy asked the pilot how the heck he had figured out where they were based off what those people had wrote. He replied well it was obviously the Microsoft building. The guy looked puzzled and had to ask, and how did you know that? Well because they gave us an answer that was technically correct but totally useless. I have yet to find a way to easily look up anything that has to do with Microsoft. So I have made it a habit to file my own help information on the various topics that I need to reference (or might in the future) every now and then. Of course when it comes to finding anything new --- well I basically put on my explorers hat and go exploring. I use a combination of the help files, google searches, and searches on the microsoft website. These eventually either give me the answer or at least clues to help me narrow the search. I know this is not encouraging per-sae but it's just the way it is... at least its better than it used to be. Back in VB3 some of the documentation was actually wrong and you had to discover how things actually worked. Or of course you could have just paid Microsoft something like $500 dollars to get a correct answer from them. I think they still do this but I think the price has risen significantly. --Dennis __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
