Mary, I think you are confusing web-mail servers with gopher mail
servers. As far as I know, the gopher servers will not support this if
used on a web address.
By "[link]" are you referring to [] with a number inside, or "[LINK]"
literally? I have seen the letter, and do not know how to use it, but
for the former, you need to find the referenced number near the bottom of
the message, and ask for that URL. Messy.

I think that's about when it began to be really bad (though it had happened on

One small question ... why use Windows when you've got a wonderful system like
OS/2 ? ;-)

The odd HTML message in the digest seems to make no difference - truncations are
completely random, often right in the middle of a message! Today's digest was
OK, but yesterday's was again cut short. The mystery remains.

Help please.
One day my NT 4.0 got ill:
as soon as I start IE or Outlook Express the message:
"IE/OE is not the default browser/mailer. Make it default?" appears.
Every time I press Yes and every next time I have the same
situation.
Hope that next problem is a result of the same case:
when clicking on email-refence hypertext it causes
MS Exchange installation.
Thank in advance,
best regards-

Hacker in training? (The number 2600 has special meaning to phone
hackers. That is what that group is about.)
I suspect that reference.com will not carry this one. (see the list FAQ)
However, some one may know of an open news server that may carry it, and
be accessible via gophermail.

I do not know about elsewhere, but for the US, check out

This keeps coming up, so I will try to make this short.
1: juno is only available in the US!
2: Juno.com addresses are free to the user, paid for by advertising
constantly flashing (often literally flashing!) in a window at the top of
their screen while using the requires software.
For more information, try http://www.juno.com or send a message (blank is
OK, in that the content will be ignored) to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for

Well, hmmm, I got a new machine; my current 4th one. So I have 2-486s
(66Mhz), 1-Pentium AMD K-6 (233Mhz) , and this new Pentium II (450Mhz).
OS/2 is on one of my 486s. Windows NT 4.0 and Linux are on the AMD. The
other 486 is DOS and Win 3.x. So this new machine is Win 98. I have
just been too lazy to start moving everything around again. In
addition, before I move everything, I'm waiting for the new OS/2. It
appears as though IBM is going to let Stardock systems create the new
Warp 5 while they concentrate on the Warp 5 server (code named Aurora).
Also, I have been bemoaning Windoze for years but really never used it.
So I thought I would run this Win 98 for a few months to learn all I
can about it and much of the software that runs under it. I must say
that Eudora is pretty slick. I have tried Pegasus, Outlook, and the Bat
and prefer Eudora. Netscape is great. Gave up on IE. I have run through
more software than you can shake a stick at. I've tried all kinds of
web browers, FTP clients, telnet clients, and just resort to simple
things. Most of the GUI software is just to cumbersome. Gads, I love a
DOS prompt and REXX.
Found lots of tools for Win 98 that help somewhat. However, the
disturbing thing is that this machine crashes a lot. I have to reboot
at least once every other day. The first three weeks it was daily, but
I've cured most of the problems since then, However, I'm now stuuck on
a registry error. Every day I have to reboot when the message "Windows
has found an error in your registry" appears. I've run tons of registry
fix programs but nothing seems to help
>From June 94 until Dec 98, my OS/2 box had to be rebooted 6 times (I
kept track!). Unfortunately, after the first week I gave up counting on
Win 98 after passing 12 reboots. I'm probably past 50 by now!
I would have thought that with 3 years of "crummy" Windows 95 behind
them that M$ could have got Win 98 correct. But I guess not.
Now when I complain about M$ nobody can say did you try "such and such"
because the answer is going to be a resounding yes.

Mail forwarding services will automatically redirect mail from the
forwarding address to your real E-mail address. Similar in manner to
having a .forward file on a Unix shell account.
Example:
If I had an account at wireworm (which I don't) but let's say I did;
something like [EMAIL PROTECTED] All mail sent to the wireworm
address would be forwarded to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The only adantage to this scheme is for two main reasons:
1) to conceal your real address
2) you change ISPs many times and need a central E-mail address
In my case, I have been at Netcom since June 94 and don't plan on
moving so I'm content to keep my main address public. In addition, with
procmail running on my shell account I have pretty much eliminated spam
and also have an autoresponder available, all at the same location.
Keeping things up-to-date is something of a bother but not that much.
To answer your question, E-mail forwarding is not really the same as
anonymous or pseudo-anonymous remailing. Most anon remailers strip
header information and use encryption techniques to forward the mail to
further disguise the source sending address. E-mail forwarding services
really don't do either of these.
To get a list of anon servers or all servers for that matter, grab this
web page:

If Internet Explorer is the other browser on your computer,
you can make it the default by doing the following:
A.Open the Windows 95/98/NT Control Panel by clicking the Windows Start
button,
Settings, and then Control Panel.
B.In the Control Panel, double-click the Internet icon.
C.Click the Programs tab.
D.Click the checkbox beside "Internet Explorer should check to see
whether it
is the default browser".
E.Click OK.
For MS Outlook,
A. Click Tools, then Options
B. Under the General tab, check the two items
Make Outlook Express my default E-mail program
Make Outlook Express my default News reader
