Does anyone know if it is possible to use [EMAIL PROTECTED] successfully
as I always end up getting a response that consists of begin644 and end,
nothing else?

I notice it is regularly quoted in the stats on this list but does it get
used by list members or is it just for use locally?

Subject: Researching a theme on Usenet

Greetings!

This site provides useful help for following a theme on Usenet:

     "RemarQ discussions are organized in over 30,000 different
     discussion Groups. Each group has a unique name, the "Group" name.
     You can search for a discussion group by typing in a word or two
     that describes your interest and selecting the "Groups" radio
     button.'

     "For example, if you want to browse through many different
     discussions about Food, then you should type "food" in the edit box
     and select the "Group" radio button. RemarQ will find all the
     Discussion Groups that contain the word "food" in the Group name,
     such as "rec.food.baking." You can then participate in discussions
     about baking.'

     "You can also search individual discussions/articles within all
     remarQ Groups by selecting the "Discussions" radio button.'
     "
     If you want to find a recipe for Chocolate cake then you should
     type "chocolate cake" in the edit box and select the "Discussions"
     radio button."

In trying to research a historical topic (Hitler's supporters in business)
I hit upon this string. However, it has not taken me on.

    get http://excite.remarq.com/default/search.pl?\
    searchStr=Hitler+money+or+support%5C

Could someone pls create the syntax for email-only users?

Hi, all!

Could anyone tell me how to access Ukrainian newsgroups if I'm using free e-mail.
Unfortunately, none of such things like agora, gopher, mail2news etc. don't "know"
about
Ukrainian newsgroups.
I'd like to subscribe by e-mail for some groups and to be able to post to them.
This is a question above all for Ukrainian accmailers. In particular,
how can I access the KIEV.JOB newsgroup?

Thank you,

Dmytro Pavlov, Ukraine.

Too bad I didn't win. I put the decimal point wrong for the Rupees to
dollars and had 2881.1536 instead of 288.12. I also said laminar flow
instead of turbulent flow. At least I had 4 of my answers referenced!!!

Unfortunately, this site uses a POST method so I don't think you will
be able to format a search string easily. You might try a Getweb or
WWW4mail server to retrieve the web page.
http://excite.remarq.com/default/main.pl

Retriveing the page and stripping the form yields:
 remarQ Excite Home
 <form method="post" action="search.pl" target="_top" valign=top>
 <input NAME="searchStr" SIZE="32" VALUE="" MAXLENGTH="80">
 <a target="_top" HREF="searchhelp.pl">Search Tips
 <input TYPE="submit" VALUE="go">
 <input TYPE="RADIO" VALUE="all newsgroups" NAME="searchIn"
checked>Discussion Groups
 <input TYPE="RADIO" VALUE="all articles" NAME="searchIn">Articles
 </form>

So I would make a string something like:
send http://excite.remarq.com/default/search.pl?\
&searchStr=Hitler+money+support&searchIn=all+articles

The help file doesn't show the use of "or" or any of the boolean
connection words. It simply states to search using a word for the
newsgroups and simple words for the articles. It would be best to use
the article search if you are going to use words.

What do you pay for your Internet service? $19.95 a month?
$17.95?  A little less? More?

Whatever you're paying, we don't think you should have to.

Andy, I had a smilar problem with Internet Explorer (not with Netscape,
however), and solved it as follows...

Your normal web page starts with the tag "<HTML>" (without quotes) right
at the top. However, you e-mail probably arrives with several lines of
headers preceding the "<HTML>" tag. Using a text editor, I removed the
headers, leaving "<HTML>" at the very top of the message, and saved this
to disk. Then, reading this file from disk with the File/Open command,
I could see the message as the web page was intended to appear.

That's not true. The standards state that HTML should contain a DTD
(document type definition) as the very first line. It's job is to
explain what the document contains. Most browsers don't require them,
but it is good HTML. Examples:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2 Experimental 970421//EN">

Anyway, you don't need to remove the mail headers. Why do the work?
Just save the message as a text file and open it up in your browser.
You'll see the mail headers at the top, but the HTML will render fine.

No such animal... You can go one way but not the other. That is, you
can convert anything to assembly language but you cannot convert the
other way.

This is why all the disassemblers show assembly language output.

Besides that, if you have the assembly language source, compile it.
It's usually a lot more compact...

Just in case somebody else wants to know.

The HTML tag...

<INPUT type="reset">

...places a button which is labelled something like "Reset" (again, the
actual label will
vary depending upon the browser). Selecting the button will cause the
entire form to be reset to its default state, wiping out any and all
changes made by the user.

Unless you are running a CGI script on the server, you cannnot do a
submit with a mailto address. Howver, if you are processing the web
page through a CGI script, then there are two ways to do this:

1) <FORM METHOD=POST
ACTION="/cgi-bin/processing.pl?[EMAIL PROTECTED]&sub=subject title">

2) <FORM METHOD=POST ACTION="/cgi-bin/processing.pl">
<INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="sendto" VALUE="[EMAIL PROTECTED]">

Speaking of ASM, are there any freely available ASM compilers that
will compile windows programs? And to make this a topical question,
are there any ASM compilers that would be easily accessible via
e-mail?

The only free service at emailfetch.com is the Getweb service and that
is limited to 15 messages per week. The search, ftpmail, and news

For simple free A86 assembler to get you started get a86v372.zip and
the accompanying debugger d86v372.zip. Note: these are only 16-bit
compilers for DOS but what the heck they work. I used them way back in
the early 80s before actually buying an assembler.

For a list of other (including the above) grab this web page:
http://www.chips.navy.mil/oasys/assembly/files.html

The download links are on the page...

A site with a 188 assembler language files to download is at this page:
http://www.filelibrary.com/Contents/DOS/72/

Found another multi-language support compiler. Supposed to do 32-bit
assembly.
