Obviously those who only have email access HAVE to use accmail methods. But there are many people in the world where due to the cost of telephone charges whilst they may have full internet access it can be more efficient to use accmail methods for at least some of their access. This category of user is often unaware that accmail methods exist so if we want to keep the facilities available we do need to get through to people newly connected. I recall a message some time ago on this list that seemed to say that those who have full internet access should leave accmail methods alone for those who only have email access. I think that is a short-sighted attitude Whilst services to accmailers have been lost due to abuse of the service it seems to me that services are more in danger of being lost due to lack of use. We have to pay a worth for dial up connection during busy hours (7am to 7pm) to Telecom company in our country. For the rest of the day and Saturdays and Sundays the fee is much more favourable. As email user only it's obvious I receive a lot of mails. Most of them (mainly mails from lists, mails from agora, www4 servers etc) can wait for downloading in the nights, but several most important mails I need load, read and reply during a day. In my previous system, ATARI ST, we have nice utility, POP watcher for mailbox checking. It retrieves only numbers of new mails, their subjects and senders. I was able to select only most important messages for downloading and the rest could wait for the night. Now with PC system (Win98) I am looking for the software with similar feature. No MS Explorer nor Netscape is not able to do it, and if I connect during busy hours I need to download the whole contents of my mailbox. Does anybody know what PC software (mail client or POP checker)is able to check the mailbox and download only selected messages? Thanks for the reply in advance. When I get a big file, I ask service to split the file in to some small parts. In the result,I always receive the first part of the file as an attachment but the rest are always inside the body as text. How could I get all parts of file as attachments. Thanks in advance. It was up when I sent the naote because I checked first. So I'd gather that the error message above is correct in the sense that the "remote site [is] temporarily unreachable". Probaly do to the fact that it's a weekend and university sites are notoriously unreliable on weekends, holidays, and school vacations. -- Gerry Boyd -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 May 1999 18:49:09 +0200 From: =?iso-8859-1?Q?Ra=FAl_Larsen?= <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Interbot Thanks for your help. Now Interbot is running OK. It's mandatory in my system to choice the option "Minimize after use automatically" to make things work. Is there any resource (web, news, list) where service files for Interbot can be shared between users? Should not ACC-mail be the proper place?
