Subject: MP3s

Hey all,
Thanks for all the help on my last quesion about the ftpmailer at
princeton. I just tried it again and it worked, so maybe I was doing
something wrong or something. I'll be sure that if I get that again,
I'll send all the info to you all.

Now, for my next question. I just got a MP3 player and I want to check
out some mp3s off of the MP3 page. I have the band's URL that I want and
I found where you are supposed to download the MP3, but I can't seem to
download the MP3. Could somebody tell me if it is possible to download
them by accmail and how to do it? I tried to do it with WWW4Mail, but I
haven't got anything back yet. Also, is it possible to use Real Audio
without acutal Internet access?

Thanks,
Matt

Also DR DOS 7.0 which is free for personal use. In addition they sell a Y2K
fix package which works with M$ and IBM DOS. I assume that it is the same
sort of fix as the IBM Y2K fix pak.

This is an answer to [EMAIL PROTECTED] 's question about free pop email. I recently
found out some free POP emails too ... I hope these are helpful to you and anyone else
who wants Free POP emails. Unfortuantely, I've tried to
fill up thier registration forms via email - like I've done to some sites that
required registration like getting on the astrology.net freedaily email horoscope, and
sadly, this doesn't seem to work with these POP email
registrations. You have to be online to do this. If anyone discovers how to fill up
thier forms via email, please tell me too!! =)

Here's the list for the emails. This came from a friend of mine who found this site:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/3283/free_pop.html

Iname-- http://www.iname.com Free SMTP and forwarding, as well as Web based e-mail
service. Fast and fairly reliable. POP service also available for a monthly charge,
but why would you use it when you can have it forwarded to any
of the services below for free?
NTScan-- http://www.ntscan.com Formerly Computer Central, they are back and offering
free SMTP and POP services. Domain name is ntscan.com
Mail and News -- http://www.mailandnews.com Along with Telebot (above), one of only
two services thus far offering free IMAP as well as POP and SMTP service; impressive.
Domain name is mailandnews.com
FreeMail -- http://www.freemail.com Another of the newer free POP and SMTP services.
Domain is freemail.com
Flashmail -- http://www.flashmail.com A new Free POP and SMTP, and web-based service
from Hungary. Domain name is flashmail.com
CoolMail -- http://www.planetarymotion.com Not to be confused with the now-defunct,
Tonga-based Coolmail.to, Coolmail is a free POP and SMTP service which also enables
any US-based user to access e-mail over the phone! Domain is
coolmail.com
SaintMail -- http://www.saintmail.net A new free POP and SMTP service geared towards
Christians, but of course open to all. Domain is saintmail.net
Mail Planet -- http://www.mailplanet.com Another new and very interesting looking
service featuring free POP and SMTP service. Domain is mailplanet.com
Crosswinds http://www.crosswinds.net A service providing POP and SMTP, which allows
you to put your choice of a number of place names between the "@" and
crosswinds.net--e.g., [EMAIL PROTECTED] . Includes free home
page as well with unlimited space. They have now added Web based access to e-mail
accounts as well!
Asian Wired --Philippines based free POP, SMTP and Web based service. Domain name is
asianwired.com
Theatre Organs-- http://www.theatreorgans.com How's "theatreorgans.com" grab you as a
domain name with a difference?!
Personal Connections-- http://www.pemail.com -Another pop and web-based account. A
trifle slow. Domain is pemail.com
Net Taxi-- http://www.nettaxi.com Offers a free home page as well as POP and SMTP
access. Has shown recent improvement. Also reportedly now offering web-based mail
access. Domain is nettaxi.com
Freemark -- http://freemail.org.mk A new free SMTP and POP service based in Macedonia.
Domain name is freemail.org.mk
Topteam/web.bg-- http://www.topteam.bg/freemail English-language service based in
Bulgaria, account is activated within 24 hours. Address format is: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
POPAccount -- http://www.popaccount.com A new free POP service based in India! Domain
name is popaccount.com
(POP Only section)
Fast Network Communications -- http://www.fnmail.com They have unfortunately
discontinued their SMTP service as too many people were using it for spam! Their POP
service is still very reliable, though. Domain name is fnmail.com
c3ntris-- http://www.c3ntris.com Like many people, when I initially saw this domain
name, I said, "Huh?" But they can't be too bad, after all, they're offering Free POP
e-mail accounts!
Friendly Mail -- http://www.mypad.com The latest of the well-known web-based e-mail
account providers to jump on the free POP account bandwagon.
New Mail -- http://www.newmail.net Another "new" web and POP based free e-mail
service. Domain is newmail.net
NFMail -- http://www.nfmail.com Another new POP service with no storage limit for
e-mail. Domain is nfmail.com
Geocities-- http://www.geocities.com The service on which this page is based! Offers
free home page as well as rather slow POP account. You have to search through one of
their virtual "neighborhoods" and find a "vacancy" to stake
your claim. No SMTP; see Iname above. Domain is geocities.com

I hope the above list helps you or anyone1

Now, I have a lil question of my own ... does WWW by MAIL Gateway
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> answer ftp:// ... requests anymore??

AFAIK, you need web-access to transact POP mail. In other words, you'd need
a full internet connection (or at least the ability to connect to ports 25
<SMTP> or 110 <POP3> of an ISP / Mail service provider to access mail).
"Going to a web site" or using a browser to manage mail is only a
convenience for those who have web access and the time and money to do it
this way. Some of the web-based services will allow one to use the SMTP/POP3
protocols to send / receive mails, usually for a fee, but you'd still need
web access to get at your mail on these servers; the advantage being reduced
online time.

Very true!

For instance, in Bangalore we have a free email service (tantriks.com) which
allows you to access email through the regular email software such as
Outlook Express using POP3/SMTP, but does not provide any other facilities.
It would be quite impossible to use this service to access email on another
server except possibly by accmail methods, which was, I think, the original
question in this thread. Again AFAIK it has never been demonstrated to be
possible even by accmail methods.

I'd venture to guess a good proportion of accmail subscribers are corporate
users...

I might add here that if you are interested only in the text content of the
pdf source, there's a handy conversion service from Adobe.com:

Just send a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the URL of the .pdf file in the
body of the message.

Ahem, (redfaced) I had made a mistake in the email address while reporting

Subject: How to figure out real file name?

Hi, ACCMAILers!

I use www4mail to get html files from internet.
To retrieve the original, UNMODIFIED HTML sources as an e-mail
attachment I use TSOURCE command.
Some HTML files contains references like this:
<A HREF="aaa/bbbb/">
As you can see, file name is absent.
I send "TSOURCE http://www.server.ccc/aaa/bbbb/" and get needed
file as attachment. But it's name looks like "www.server.ccc_aaa_bbbb".
Naturally, reference on this file doesn't work.
When w3mail was alive it always send me files with real names
and there was no problem.
_Question_: How can I figure out real file name?

With regards, Alexander.

>_Question_: How can I figure out real file name?

The HREF you are referring to is called a relative reference. The
reference is related to the location of the original web page.

For instance, let's say that you asked for a web page
hhtp://www.somewhere.net/index.html

and in this page there is an HREF that shows /backgrounds/orange.html

then the full path to the new document is:
hhtp://www.somewhere.net/backgrounds/color.html

If the HREF has a number sign (#) in it, then this a relative link to a
location somewhere in the same web page.

For instance, in my howto1.html document, you may see a HREF like
<A HREF="#ftpgoph">FTP Files By Gophermail</A>

This indicates that there is a section in the document with a link to
this reference. When you click on the link you are directed down in the
document to a section marked as follows:
<A NAME="ftpgoph">FTP Files By Gophermail</A>

Likewise an HREF like
<A HREF="./index.html#TOC">Table of Contents (Home page)</A>

will take you out of howto1.html and redirect you to
http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1236/index.html in a section with
<A NAME="TOC">Table Of Contents (7 Topics)</A>

The "./" forces the web page to the highest level, which in my case is
http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1236/

I cannot say much about what have happened, but it seems that sending an
