It seems I am usually barking up the wrong tree when I answer,
but here is a try. Could you possibly have received these in
MIME or UUENCODED form? You can tell by viewing the contents of
the file with a text editor. If so, it well have an organized
look to it with a headder and lines of regular length. If
uuencoded, it will have a line in the beginning that says "begin"
and at the end "end". Mime will say "base64" at the begining
somewhere. Then you will need to decode them first.

First you need to find a BBS in your country that has fidonet. Then you can
ask the sysop of that BBS if you can become a 'point'. Normally the sysop can
also explain to you what software you need to read/write your fido
netmail/echomail.

I hope that the above helps you. If something is not clear, please ask again.

Hello ACCMail ...

A pal in Australia put me on to this one ...

  Virtually Perfect Mail - http://www.list.to/

... does what eGroups and OneList do, but without
the horrendous signup procedures, banner ads and
cookies.

And their scripts are GetWeb-friendly! I have tested
it, and managed to create a fully functional mailing
list in less than one hour, without hacking a single
form.

A worked example will be posted (eventually) on the
website-by-email list.
