Dear ACCMAILs,

How can we retrieve web pages with URL similar to the following:

LYNXIMGMAP:http://www.alhayat.com/#alhayat1

using Agora or www4mail servers noting that I tried to get them by Send and Get
instruction but I could not.

Best Regards

Subject: Wired news, error when requesting URL's

Hi all :-)

I get a daily newsletter from Wired.com with the news of the day, including
URL's to the full stories.

But when I try to get one of those URL's, for example:

http://www.wired.com/news/news/email/explode-infobeat/politics/story/21607.
html
using [EMAIL PROTECTED], I get an error that looks something like this:

[snip]

   [33]In-Box Direct,
   or [34]PointCast
   []

   [an error occurred while processing this directive]

   [35][]
   [36][]
   [37]Send us feedback | [38]Work at Wired Digital | [39]Advertise with
   us
   [40]About Wired Digital | [41]Our Privacy Policy

[snip]

It seems i get everything BUT the story.
I figure it has maybe to do with frames, but I'm not sure? Is there another
way to get the full story - maybe another URL or a 'better' WWWMail server?

Thomas Boelskifte - Denmark

Subject: Re: I keep forgeting this- way to do whois by email?

There is no need to use those complicated three step web-mail cgi to whois
interfaces Gerry had the kindness to post yesterday.

Here you are some examples on how you can do it straight away by gopher-mail:

Looking for a domain name? or a person? on a specific whois server?
(for other kind of more complex querries please check up with the
rfc954 documentation of the whois/nickname protocol :)

then send a message like this one to a regular perl-script gopher-mailer:

mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
#
Name=whois pcnet at whois.internic.net
Type=0
Port=43
Path=pcnet
Host=whois.internic.net
#
Name=whois john at George Mason University
Type=0
Port=43
Path=john
Host=gmu.edu

You can also do it with the odd C gopher-mailer:

mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
X 1. whois-john
X 2. whois-pcnet
1 0 john csus.edu 43
2 0 pcnet.ro whois.ripe.net 43

I leave to you how should look for a web-mail server the equivalent URLs :)

A comprehensive list of whois servers is available by ftp-mail from
       sipb.mit.edu:/pub/whois/whois-servers.list

With the hope that this is of help and follows the basic KISS principles,

best regards to you all accmailers and
have fun with your gophermail stunts

The file is a TAR archive compressed with GZIP. The GNU tar can directly
compress/decompress this archives so you can do all the job in one step:

tar -xzvf file.tgz
     ||||
     |||\_ you indicate the File to process
     ||\__ Verbose: you see on the screen what tar is doing
     |\___ it's a Zipped archive
     \____ eXtract

Or you can use gunzip + tar with pipe:

gunzip file.tgz | tar -xv

If using Nt, you can use AT.EXE, it's easy and shipped with the OS...

This is specific to Agent, caus its primary a *news*-reader, which must know
this.
