The number of Internet connections is a problem, but there is work to resolve
this (I think the IP number is to be increased). I think the main problem is
bandwidth -- i.e. the carrying capacity of the medium. Does wireless
communication allow more capacity/reliability?

It is the way of the future but I wonder what the capacity is compared to
traditional methods -- copper cable/fibre etc.

See ya later.

Subject: LET'S SAVE LISZTER!!! [Re: Our membership's unconscionable APATHY...]

Hi ACCMAILERS -)
Hi "Fabian Brian. Rose"

Thank you for you interest on this subject :-)

You posit several assumptions:

1.- The need to '...fix up a time or day when we should email the admins of
the servers going down..."

My reply: ANY time, ANY day is ok.

---------

2.- U assume the possibility of a "choice" in the matter when u state: :
"Whether we should email em or whether we should hold on."

My reply: There is nothing left to "..hold on to.." (afaik in re Liszter)
, so imho, there is *no choice* in the matter: if u value this edangered
'net resource, then by all means, u (and all ACCMAILERS) must act NOW!
Send a polite message stating the need for Liszter's continued service..

Without a doubt, "Liszt, the mailing list directory" service is/was an
excellent and indispensable resource for locating and joining Internet
mailing lists. IT SHOULD BE SAVED....

---------

3.- U assume NO ONE has explained what must be done: when U state:"...tell
us what must be done!!!

My reply: Several members have said it before: Just send a polite email
thanking LISZTERfor past services and for providing such a vital Internet
service.. AND PLEASE don't forget to ask them why Liszter is no longer
replying to any "Liszt-by-Mail Query" search/query commands

imho this is best course of action. That is what I have done already and I
HAVE received their (Topica/LISZTER) 's prompt & courteous reply.

these are the e-dresses:

<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

----------

4.- U assume 2500 pieces of email will be a bit too much for them to handle
and could crash their server.

My reply: Hope springs eternal, but.....I doubt if even 10% (at best) of
that total will be sent. But I also seriously doubt that if even such a low
percentage were sent, that LISZTER would ignore 250 plus emails........ on
the other hand...if only 10 or 20 ACCMAIL members send emails, them they,
(Liszter) might just think it isn't worth their while and ignore the whole
thing...and kill it "permanently"...

-------------------

5.-U assume ACCMAILERS only love accessing the net by email "until they get
full acess"

My Reply: Hmmmm, Even tho' I have had UNINTERRUPTED FULL WEB ACCESS for
more than 5 years (whew!!) I still **much** prefer using ACCMAIL methods
for myriad reasons far too numerous to be counted ...but principal among
these, I guess i would place as REASON #1: :".I have found ACCMAIL methods
are a faster, safer, reliable and more methodical and organized way to
fulfill almost all my net needs.."...(ironic isn't it)

I can truthfully say that, hands down, I prefer *NOT* to use the
traditional WWW (World Wide Wait) if I can use email to do it instead......

are browsable.

Search Engine Colossus
http://www.searchenginecolossus.com/

Created by Bryan Strome, this metasite offers links to a large number
of country- or region-specific search engines. The search engines are
organized by country, with a link to the service, the language(s) it
uses, its point of origin, and a short description when available.
The number of search engines available under each heading can vary
considerably, as would be expected. Search engines in eleven general
categories, including Academic, Business, Medical, and Sports, are
also listed. Users wishing to narrow their searches and/or utilize
some lesser-known search engines will find this site a helpful
starting point. [MD]

Subject: Re: www4mail forms using IE5/Outlook Express

IE5 has this problem. Infact IE4 didn't have this problem and even I could
check up my postings by looking into the sent items folder. Netscape
messenger uses temp file for posting via mail. But from my experience
IE4/OE4 combination was the most efficient one.
You can get around this problem by using Netscape as the app for viewing
html files (which in turn will use Netscape Messenger for posting to
www4mail). Also you can use the XBYJS option. But it doesn't work for
posting which conatains lot of data and garbages(usually for popular search
engines).
Can anyone explain why it works for some browsers and for some browsers it
doesn't work?

In the past, Deja offered for a short time posting via a web-form without
the need for cookies-enabled browser (and without the need for
registration). You could use that service via GetWeb.

Shortly after they put the service, they cancelled it due to mal-usage.
They then allowed only registered users via MyDeja (MyDejaNews at
that time) to post via their web form. Before this switch, MyDeja did not
ask for cookies for registration, but now, although all settings is on their
servers, so that if their cookies are deleted, you can still gain everything
and restore all settings from their server using your password, you can
no longer enter your account without a cookies enabled browser.

I think that they do not wish it (newsroups as mailing lists) to be a
service by e-mail only, due to authentication/mal-usage problems that
caused them to cancel their original non-cookies web-form submittal
service.

Use a www4mail server and request the main Liszt search engine web page:
http://www.liszt.com/

Fill out the form and resubmit to the www4mail server.

You can also use a search string and send to your favorite Agora or
agora like server:
send http://www.liszt.com/cgi-bin/liszt.cgi?word=XXX+YYY&junk=s&an=all

Replace XXX+YYY with your search terms

Upgradeable to ITU V.90* standard at: http://1ymzhle.com/pctelupgrade
* There will be a small fee to cover the cost imposed by the ITU.

Use a www4mail server to retrieve this web page...
