Dear friends Downloadslave users, since, from what I can read, I'm not alone in having problems unzipping files received through Downloadslave Service, which I value very much, would you please let them know the problem we're encountering, e-mailing their forum at http://www.downloadslave.com/forum.htm ? I sent a message a few days ago but they said: " there are no known problems with ZIP-Files ". Look at my message under Forum/Diverses. Hoping it will solve our problems, have a nice day. By the way, ACCMail List is one of the best around thanks to our Moderator and all others always ready to give helpful advice. Chistyakov, Russia, S.-Pb. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Sep 1999 11:51:01 +0400 From: Alexander Artjukov <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Continuation of the theme: "I need utility for quoted-printeble" Good afternoon! Dear Gerald! I thank you for the help in search of the utility. Besides for maintenance and active participation in ACCMAIL. To express this time me the polemic which has arisen after my letter with subject "I need utility for quoted-printable has induced!" from September 25, 1999. 1. My English is a complex mix of the programs of Russian-English translation, electronic dictionaries and my complete ignorance of English language. Therefore beforehand I ask apologies for probable mistakes. 2. I consider, that many members ACCMAIL happen tiresomely to read the extensive messages. Especially by the one who badly knows English. Dear ACCMAILre's! Please, each time, when send the message, reflect: a) Can I be expressed more shortly? b) Interestingly my opinion three thousand readers? Unfortunately, my first letter containing the elementary question (request), has entailed filling ACCMAIL by milk and water. I have in a kind the message from: "Lena [Kiev. Ukraine]" [EMAIL PROTECTED] > from September 25, 1999 and here followed answer from Gerald from September 25, 1999. Similar on garbled version. The substitution of a discussed theme (old DOS-mailer) for discussion DOS, OS/2, Windows etc was accomplished. Actually I not stick in the mud. Mine today's OS - NT 4.0 Workst. And I use old DOS-mailer for the simple reason: ours corporate E-mail uses UUCP-protocol. Working with the Internet frequently also do not suspect, that this protocol is still alive. You saw UUCP-transport for Outlook Express? That's the whole point! I saw, but he paid (as against itself OE) and besides badly works. Many to me will say: " Get normal POP3/SMTP mailbox, and all will be excellent!" I agree, and I intend the coming two years to replace a residence with one closer to providers, to receive access in the Internet and other's comforts. But whether in this case evanesce I from ACCMAILer's? Best regards, Alexander. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Sep 1999 10:32:49 -0700 From: "Gerald E. The official standard for implemnetation of xDSL services is through PPP over Ethernet as defined in RFC 2516 (abbreviated PPPoE in most literature). The product that Earthlink supplies to connect vial DSL is called WinPoET made by iVasion a division of RouterWare and recently purchased by WindRiver Systems. iVasion focuses on Windows products. see http://www.ivasion.com/winpoet/winpoet_overview.htm Currently they only supply WinPoET for Win 95/98. An NT version is is the works. No plans for *nix systems. Also see Redback Systems http://www.redback.com/solutions/pppoe/wp_pppoe_comparison.asp I haven't found any PPPoE references for *nix systems. -- Gerry Boyd -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Sep 1999 10:34:42 -0700 From: "Gerald E. It is so bad to have to rely upon only one server for an accmail job (: As I told you in private I made some gopher searches for other Usenet-by-gophermail resources still available on the net (these last gopher-holes should be renamed dinosaurus-holes :) I was lucky enough to quickly find a server absolutely similar to the Australian one from the University of Canberra (services.canberra.edu.au:4320) This new accmail old dino is alive and well at voyager.cns.ohiou.edu:4320 I also found a few other usenet-by-mail dinos alive but these use slightly different stile gateways. When I will finish testing I will put their addresses on the list. have fun & best regards, Sorin ------------------------------ End of ACCMAIL Digest - 26 Sep 1999 to 27 Sep 1999 (#1999-271) **************************************************************
