Bug ID: 199893
Summary: Won't completely power off
Product: ACPI
Version: 2.5
Kernel Version: 4.9.0-6-amd64
Hardware: All
OS: Linux
Tree: Mainline
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P1
Component: Power-Off
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Regression: No
When I shut my Satellite C55-B5353 laptop down, it never fully shuts down.
I have tried shutting it down via the menu and command line with the same
results.
After a couple of seconds, it seems that either the disk starts spinning or the
fan turns on.
I looked in the syslog and syslog.1 files and I didn't see anything that
screamed "I HAVE AN ISSUE!", but I am not a kernel developer.
I am running Debian 9.4 Stretch.
Hardware:
- Architecture: x86_64
- Byte Order: Little Endian
- Model: 55
- Model Name: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU N3530 @ 2.16GHz
History of the Laptop:
The laptop came installed with Windows. I wiped it and installed Ubuntu 16.04
LTS and it ran fine. I upgraded it to 17.xx to get to 18.04 and it would
freeze up randomly after 10 - 15 mins of use. I didn't see anything in the
logs for that issue and gave up to wipe and install a more stable OS; Debian.
The only issue that I am running into is that when I shutdown, I have to hold
the power button to actually shut it down.
