I guess that's CONFIG_THINKPAD_ACPI=n and/or not loading thinkpad_acpi, right ?
Yes, I'll try that in the near future.

For now, I am trying to reproduce with 2.6.23-rc1 (with THINKPAD_ACPI=m and 
THINKPAD_ACPI_INPUT_ENABLED=y). It's been working fine 3 days so it might be
already fixed.

I'll report back within a week or so, it is supposed to be enough to reproduce
the problem.
