HJH, please clarify if loading just the ACPI video driver
(ie. no thinkpad drivers)
in 2.6.23 or later makes brightness work.  (i thought this
was working back around comment #12, but maybe i misunderstood).
If it doesn't work, did it ever work?

Rui, is this a santa rosa box that needs the new opregion support?
