This is strange. I have a different kernel version installed than the
one shipped with Jaunty (installed kernel 2.6.29.1 and 2.6.30.8 from
kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline) and those are not reducing the
boot lag with this change. The stock kernel however, reduces my boot
from 18 seconds delay to a mere 2 seconds delay. I wonder why the Ubuntu
kernel shipped with Jaunty picks it up and the others don't. Guess I
have to stick to the stock kernel for now. Really wished I could load a
different kernel.
