Right now, I'm seeing the bug very rarely, and I'm hoping to do some changes to see it even more rarely or never. But if your computer shuts down reliably within a reasonable timeframe (minutes), you could try to bisect the problem, provided it is a regression and you have a known stable kernel version. --- Comment #46 from John <johnmbry...@sky.com> 2011-02-02 09:45:21 --- (In reply to comment #45) > Just curious, what's the turnaround for shutdown occurence for you? But if your computer shuts down reliably within a > reasonable timeframe (minutes), you could try to bisect the problem, provided > it is a regression and you have a known stable kernel version. It's somewhat unpredictable. The machine can run for a few days without shutdown on an effected kernel. Or at other times there can be several occurrences within a few hours. Longer time intervals are more the 'norm' though. For example, I've just been running the latest ubuntu test 2.3.35 kernel (2.6.38 RCs just crash so far. Unrelated to this bug I think), and that ran fine for a few days. I thought 'great', maybe one of the minor changes they applied has fixed something? Alas, a few mins ago, under hardly any load and at minimal real temp, the bug reared it's head again. Previously I had been using the old karmic 2.6.31 kernel, as that is rock solid and unaffected by this bug. If there is anything I can do to usefully bisect the problem by running the 2.6.35 kernel, then I'm happy to do so. (I must re-read what diagnostic steps have already been suggested). I just can't reproduce the bug with any predictability. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
