            Bug ID: 68441
Summary: Ignoring BM_STS causes audio crackling with
                    snd_ice1712
           Product: ACPI
           Version: 2.5
    Kernel Version: 3.11.0-14
          Hardware: All
                OS: Linux
              Tree: Mainline
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P1
         Component: Power-Processor
          Assignee: acpi_power-proces...@kernel-bugs.osdl.org
          Reporter: domoh...@gmail.com
        Regression: Yes

Prior to commit 718be4aaf3613cf7c2d097f925abc3d3553c0605 for bug 15886 my audio
using my Delta 1010LT sound card was fine, but after the commit there is
intermittent crackling.

The bug seems highly related, as I have the same series motherboard
(GA-P55-UD2).

If I disable the C6 state post-commit the problem resolves (at the cost of no
c6 state). Here is some turbostat output from recovery single user mode:

Pre-commit:
core CPU %c0 GHz TSC %c1 %c3 %c6 %pc3 %pc6
           0.21 1.85 2.66 0.05 96.42 3.32 31.50 0.00
   0 0 0.07 2.59 2.66 0.03 99.90 0.00 31.50 0.00
   1 1 0.01 1.32 2.66 0.01 87.29 12.69 31.50 0.00
   2 2 0.73 1.77 2.66 0.13 98.59 0.55 31.50 0.00
   3 3 0.02 2.26 2.66 0.02 99.93 0.04 31.50 0.00

Post-commit:
core CPU %c0 GHz TSC %c1 %c3 %c6 %pc3 %pc6
           0.20 1.77 2.66 0.10 0.01 99.69 0.01 42.55
   0 0 0.04 2.05 2.66 0.04 0.00 99.92 0.01 42.55
   1 1 0.02 1.27 2.66 0.04 0.00 99.94 0.01 42.55
   2 2 0.73 1.78 2.66 0.24 0.00 99.03 0.01 42.55
   3 3 0.03 1.32 2.66 0.09 0.03 99.85 0.01 42.55

Is is the PCI device that sets the BM_STS bit? Curiously, with the card removed
the c6 utilization drop to 0% in the pre-commit case (except for the very first
turbostat output which is similar. The post-commit case is unchanged.

Some people seem to have luck playing around with BIOS options such as PCI
Delayed Transaction/PCI Busmaster Waitstate/PCI Latency Timer, none of which
are available in my BIOS.
