The website has been up and running since July 21st and has increased our revenue by at least 15% so far and not everyone is aware we are doing online sales yet. We average around $3000 a day of revenue through the site. Since we are selling airline seats on our flights, the website has to interact closely with our reservations system, as seats per flight are limited and we can't oversell our capacity. Active 4D works great at allowing me to closely control what a customer can book. I am running Webstar as the interface to the user, with proxy rewrite rules to a 4D 2003/Active4D database on the same machine. I use Webstar to handle the SSL as just about everything is done via secure connections. I interface with my actual reservations database using 4D Open to a system which is running on 4D Server 6.8 on a different machine. I have written several 4D wrapper methods for the 4D open calls, so I can access the 4D Open externals via Active4d pages. I interface with Authorize.net for credit card transactions.

The website is also used by some of our more remote company locations, that we don't have a private network to. The session handling and security of Active4D are indispensable for these company related transactions.

Try it out at www.frontierflying.com I don't hide the active 4D file extensions at all, so it is very easy to tell when you are accessing Active 4D pages versus static html pages. Feel free to book a flight to anywhere. As long a you don't actually enter a credit card number you can proceed all the way through the booking process with actually affecting us. Your reservations will just automatically drop out of the system after your session expires.

How about sharing it with the rest of us?

The most important thing is to share it with the rest of the developers
at the Summit who don't use Active4D!
