1) On the 4D Client, how do you access the Preferences pane (in order to set
"web_decoy" as the web root, etc.)? If I set it in the structure, compile,
then install on the 4D Server, does it just carry over to the 4D Client
workstation?
I think so.
It does. You must copy over the A4D folders and you web_decoy folder to the client, if you had previously used the server - or create them on the client if just starting out.
Beware that it does copy everything over, deleting whatever was there. This means that the key file must exist on the server. We switched our IP key from the server to client last year and I put the key in the client 4DX folder, thinking it would stay there. Upon starting the client, the new key was replaced with the expired key. You must put the key on the server. Don't know how that will work if you have more than one client key, but imagine okay since it is tied to IP. Also your A4D Log file will be replaced each time the client starts up with whatever is on the server.
2) Where does the key file go on a 4D Client webserver? if I install it in the Mac4DX/Win4DX folder on
the server, it gets copied over to the Client machine and works correctly?
Yes. The entire 4DX folder contents are copied to the Client machine.
