I'd make sure that your script is saved (from your text editor) with the
correct encoding, too.

I work with jedit. It says Cp1252, typical Windows charset.

Active4D assumes the MacRoman character set, that is the native character set for 4D. Either use MacRoman as the default character set in jedit (and convert all of your existing files to that character set), or set the platform charset to A4D Charset Win in Active4D.ini.
