Brendan,

Thank you for the direct input. As I said I was impressed with some of the features and look forward to evaluating more thoroughly. The Safari snafu (that Apple has acknowledged) will be fixed with Leopard, but that still leaves many millions with non-Leopard Safari browsers.

I was not meaning to appear negative on the product. 100% of Safari users would have made the same observation. I don't want to get into a browser mishmash. I simply want to understand how I can use 4DW2 with A4D before I invest in this product.

It is good to know that A4D and 4DW2 will work well together.

I enjoyed the presentation and appreciate your efforts to bring this to market. Thanks again for your input

Jim

We actually see this as an add on to to Active 4D. In fact one of the
biggest feature requests we have gotten is to integrate with Active 4D. One
of my guys will start a project to do that in the next couple of days.
Active 4D is such a powerful web development tool I think they both will
work very well together.

Regards the demo, as should be noted in the demo, the reason it doesn't work with Safari right now, is that there is a serious bug in Safari which Apple have acknowledged. It is actually fixed in Web Kit, however Apple is holding the fix until Leopard is released unfortunately. We took the choice of not
spending a lot engineering time on a workaround for this. We did fear
comments like yours that people would think the whole product doesn't work with Safari which is definetly not true but still felt our engineering
resources were better spent on other areas.

Of course one of the big uses of 4D Web 2.0 Pack for A4D developers will be the live window plug-ins. In this way any hybrid sites can have their A4D application available to them directly in their regular client application.

Aparajita, I don't like jumping in here so forgive me if I am jumping on
anyones toes, I just felt like the thread required an input from 4D.

Finally I do want to thank Aparajita for the great work he has done with A4D (among other contributions to the 4D community) and we hopefully will be able to work together to see how we can integrate both products together to
allow 4D Developers create incredible web applications.
