If any of you FireBug experts happen to install 10.4.11 (or Safari 3
on window). I'd be interested in your reaction to the Web Inspector.
You have to enable the Safari Debug menu. (% defaults write
com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1)
The Web Inspector is nice, but it can't compare with Firebug.
- Firebug allows Javascript debugging, which is critical.
- The way Firebug displays DOM/CSS info is much easier to read.
- Firebug lets you change values on the fly to preview changes to
markup/CSS.
Having said this, I now use FireFox/Firebug only when I have to,
because Safari is about 10 times faster in reloading pages. Since I am
programming mostly in Javascript using large libraries (Ext), the wait
time becomes significant.
