Guess you don't like WordPad... :-) > The fact that you are even discussing whether or > not to use WordPad for **programming** is sad beyond words Hmm, not sure you read my message; I _did_ write, > I've often used WordPad as well for making a quick change The operative word there is "quick". I think this is the issue Jason said as well--just a simple change to the .ini file, not trying to build an amazon.com replacement. On the web servers I access (which is tightly controlled by the client's IT), it's not possible to install a real text editor. And for a dead-simple change, it's a little overkill to copy the client file to my computer, make the change, and then copy it back. (Yeah, maybe this is an "official" way to do things, but again, for a 5 character change to a file, sometimes one can live dangerously... :-) In this case, however, looks like Jason was burned by whatever change appears to be in WordPad on Vista. And I think it's good that he figured it out and posted it here (so the rest of us won't get bit by that one, since I've done the same thing). I (and I think it's safe to say 100% of anybody reading this list) would never dream of using WordPad for **programming**. Much more fun to use punch cards and batch processing. Seriously, once you've used TextMate (with your Active4D bundle), life is smooth. Cheers!
