Thanks Diane. Here's the deal. Our netbios domain name is blabla.com - note the ".com" - DNS is ok yet dcdiag does report "could not get DNSdomainname" which has me worried that the ".com" is going to hinder this upgrade. ANy thoughts on that?

We recently upgraded our domain from NT 4.0 SP6a to Windows 2000 SP2. The migration of the PDC went well, no event errors, no dns errors, all our trusts are still functioning, users logon, execute their logon script ect... All DNS and AD tests such as nltest, dcdiag, netdiag and all are successful. Problem: when we try to add another domain controller (dcpromo) we get the error: Unable to find domain <domain name> in Active Directory or the domain controller for <domain name> is unavailable. We have isolated the member servers and the domain controller and still no success. Dynamic DNS is WORKING. The members are being register correctly. Any ideas anyone?? Thanks, Lori D.
