Hi Saeed Would it not be better to simply configure your second server as a second Active Directory domain controller in the same domain? This way you would have some redundancy if one of them fails.
Or is the problem that the original machine is no longer available? Usually you would only need to restore from backup to different hardware if the original machine is completely irrecoverable, or if the two machines are not connected by a sufficiently fast network link for replication to be feasible. If this is the case for you then have a look at the following Microsoft KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q263532 Tony www.activedir.org ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Saeed Ahmed <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Fri, 24 May 2002 05:05:24 -0700 (PDT) Hi i have two servers with different hardware configuration. one server is w2k active directory server. i want to make a backup of this on other server. when i restore system state on other server it gives many errors, first being video error followed by blue screen etc. is there any way that i only restore 'active directory' from system state backup???? regards saeed __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
