Would it not be better to simply configure your second server as a second Active 
Directory domain controller in the same domain?  This way you would have some 
redundancy if one of them fails.

Or is the problem that the original machine is no longer available?

Usually you would only need to restore from backup to different hardware if the 
original machine is completely irrecoverable, or if the two machines are not connected 
by a sufficiently fast network link for replication to be feasible.  If this is the

Hi

i have two servers with different hardware
configuration. one server is w2k active directory
server. i want to make a backup of this on other
server. when i restore  system state on other server
it gives many errors, first being video error followed
by blue screen etc. 
is there any way that i only restore 'active
directory' from system state backup????
