You can do whats called a "DS/IS Consistency Adjustment". The option you want to run is under the private store section called "Synchronize with the directory, and create new directory entries for mailboxes that do not have a corresponding directory entry."   The names will reappear in the recipients container of the 5.5 server and ADC will in all likelyhood create names in AD as well. Dont run any of the other options without reading up on them first.
