It all depends if the raid is hardware or software. If it is software, it can be viewed in the admin tools under computer management, disk management.
If it is hardware, the easiest way is to reboot the machine and then enter the controller card setup. You should see a screen when it is booting up. You do not have to break the raid to format the drives. Unless, you want a different raid scheme. Hope that helps.
