We're a bit smaller in that we've got about 8 sites total, but our WAN
design has driven what I think is an interesting system.

We have a hub/spoke model for the WAN, where our larger sites (the ones
which also house DC's and Exchange) are interconnected by an ATM cloud -
giving us what amounts to a full mesh WAN between these sites. Because of
that, I chose to use a single site link for all meshed sites - since they
are all 1 WAN hop away - and that hop is over a relatively fat pipe.[1]

The spoke sites are WAN linked back to a single hub office, and to date have
been part of the same site as the hub office. From my initial read of Gil's
article a few months back, I'm considering reengineering that to be separate
sites, but I've not had the time to properly address that.

Our European operations are treated like a spoke site from our Atlanta hub,
which does result in a potential lag of 30 minutes, depending on where the
changes are made. That's acceptable for the most part because we have a
local resource in the European office which houses the DCs.

VPN failover. We're a bit dependent on our internal network.
