In addition to the tools mentioned, you could also write your own script that dumps the information into the format you want.

CSVDE is utility designed for creating new objects.  So if you just want to create a new contact based on the 5.5 data, you could do this with a little massaging of the data (as you would if this were an all 5.5 solution).  To get the data back out, you again can use CSVDE and with a little massaging can make this happen.

Changes cannot be done with CSVDE.  So if you ever import the wrong data or the source data changes, then you have to have an alternate way to make this happen.

Scripting offers an easier way if this is an infrequent thing.  If this is more than occassional updates/additions, then I hope this explanation was helpful in justifying looking at the utilities mentioned in this and other responses you received. :)

I've done it with SimpleSync from www.cps-systems.com and it works perfect.

Subject: [ActiveDir] Little OT: AD, LDAP, Exchange

Hopefully someone has done this!!!!

Scenario:  Company A owns Company B and Company C.  Company A runs Active Directory and Exchange 5.5.  Company B runs Active Directory and Exchange 2000.  Company A and Company B do not share networks, do not have any type of trusts, etc.  Company A and Company B want to share Exchange server directories by way of exporting and importing .CSV files. How does Company B export from 2000 in a way that Company A can import into 5.5?  Is there a better method?

I'm looking for a way to do this as temporary until we have the time and efforts to bring our forests together.

Please send me your thoughts, suggestions, and experiences!
