Welcome to the list Sam.  

As far as I know there are no practical limits on the number of user (or
other) objects you can put in a single OU.  Or rather, there are limits but
none that you or I are ever likely to reach.

You are far more likely to have problems with display limits with the AD msc
snap-ins, although you can generally work around these. 

What sort of numbers are you thinking of?

I am new to this group but already can see that the calibre of the people
present will be a great help...

I am curious to learn the number of user objects that Active Directory can
handle in a single OU, it surely must have a limit, any other limitations to
the number of PC's that can join a domain etc would be great as well.
