One possibility is that you have some other application(s) running LDAP searches against the the DCs at the same time.   You can track expensive and inefficient LDAP searches, as described in the following article:

I am running into an issue with my linux boxes and ldap lookups on my DCs.  About 4:30 each Friday (and usually last all weekend), my ldap searches go from 1 sec to 8 secs.  I have been checking for increase in network activity (such has backups, etc) but can't find anything that could be causing the issue.   I have been checking the logs to see if something is going on with the DCs (it's all three that the delay occurs) but can't find anything usual. 

I checked CPU/Memory and they seem fine.  

Has anyone seen this type of activity with linux/ldap/ad and how did they resolve it?  Is there something I can look at on the dcs that could tell me if a defrag/replication or anything else may be causing this?
