So in fairness, let's answer the question. I don't know of any way to automate this since it uses directory services restore (I've heard there's a way to boot to recovery mode, but never had occasion to do so automatically) and ntdsutil, I can think of no way to do this in a scripted or otherwise automated way with Windows 2000.
You'll likely want to do these one at a time and make sure they come back on time anyway, so a manual effort this time to see if it clears your error may not be a bad idea. I don't want to interfere with the support case, but I would think if you're trying to solve an issue you would want to approach this scientifically and only defrag a test case to find out the results before spending the time, effort and risk to go the rest of the way. What would be the point if it doesn't solve the issue? One other thing: since Microsoft is recommending this, if you haven't checked already, it might be a good idea to check with your support rep to see if there is a way to automate if that's the recommended way to fix your environment. With 100 servers, you're not likely to be able to do this manually very often. It appears that at a certain time during the day (give or take 30 min.) our core DC's (4 servers) go nuts. These servers are not the core bridgeheads. LSASS uses every piece of memory it can get for about 2 hrs. The dc runs out of memory and LSASS starts paging memory.
