I know that McAfee 7.0.0 allows for the ability to get rid of AdWare and SpyWare. You can set it up to remove unwanted programs and it removes spyware / adware for you.
We had a case where Internet explorer kept freezing / sending crap pages and reporting problems that were not problems. I ran McAfee and it removed the spyware / adware and then Internet Explorer worked perfectly.
