Dear gurus,
Is there a way to tell a Windows 2000 server to use a particular DC for authentication? We have one particular server which seems to authenticate using a remote DC. For testing purposes we want to specify that the server use a particular DC within our forest. Perhaps there is a particular KB article that could help.
There is no way to specify prefered DC on the client side, however first You can control this with sites and subnets - client always is looking for the DC in local subnet first, and You can use priority in SRV records for DCs - client is choosing DC with lowest priority:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/2000/server/reskit/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/Windows/2000/server/reskit/en-us/distrib/dsbc_nar_sdns.asp
you can force DC via registry to register records with specified priority on startup
