Tom, Off topic a bit huh? Looks like this one needs an OT:, anyhow, If the controller is on the HCL then I would think the best way to install it would be to install the controller in parallel to the existing controller, that is boot up under the existing controller with the new controller installed but not connected to any drives. Install the drivers, and then shutdown and migrate one channel at a time over to your new controller, booting up each time to configure the new channel and make sure the new channel and drive are recognized by the OS. Then migrate the channel that has your OS on it and boot up on your new controller with the old controller in place. Once it comes up good, then remove the device from device manager and then remove it physically. I think that makes sense logically.
That's what I would do Tom, Nathaniel -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Kern, Tom Sent: Friday, April 29, 2005 3:51 PM To: ActiveDir (E-mail) Subject: [ActiveDir] Raid Whats the best way to install raid hd drivers if you've replaced a raid controller for an already existing install of windows 2k? At what point do you install the drivers. I get to the windows logo screen and then bsod with "inaccessable boot device". i just replaced the raid controller so i think its a driver isse. i just don't know when and how to install the drivers in this case. thanks List info : http://www.activedir.org/List.aspx List FAQ : http://www.activedir.org/ListFAQ.aspx List archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/activedir%40mail.activedir.org/ List info : http://www.activedir.org/List.aspx List FAQ : http://www.activedir.org/ListFAQ.aspx List archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/activedir%40mail.activedir.org/
