Building an XP image have media player 10 install on it. I set the local policy with these settings
Windows Components/Windows Media Playerhide Do Not Show First Use Dialog Boxes Enabled Local Group Policy Enabled Prevent Automatic Updates Enabled Local Group Policy Enabled Prevent Desktop Shortcut Creation Enabled Local Group Policy Enabled Prevent Quick Launch Toolbar Shortcut Creation Enabled Local Group Policy Enabled I run sysprep on the machine and then ghost it. Now if I ghost that image to a system and boot it up and DO NOT join a Domain and login with a locally created account No icon shows up on the desktop. But if I JOIN it to the Domain and login as a domain user account then the ICON for media player shows up on the desktop. The icon is being created in the %All Users% profile. The users do not have access in any way to create icons on their desktops. I ran a RSOP and the policy is still enabled from the local policy. Anyone have any clues?
