I have thousands as well. Are you talking server or client. On the client side I’ve seen it a fair bit. Here’s an article.

 

You receive a "This distribution list has reached the maximum size for your network e-mail server" error message when you add a large number of items to a contact distribution list (DL) in Outlook 2000 or in Outlook 2002

Has anyone encountered the max distribution list size in exchange?

 

Seems like it’s 8KB, or between 100-200 email addresses?

 

Am I missing something?
