Thanks!

That's what I feared. I've been helping a couple of people in the groups with weird DNS errors after a domain rename. One in particular is apparently seeing the file being populated with both the old domain name and the new domain name...

Hi Paul

I asked Microsoft the same question as we were controlling SRV record
registration. Read the email below, its an "internal process"
apparently!

Hi David

The information I have received so far, indicate it's internal processes
in our source code which trigger this from the Netlogon process.

If I get any more information, I will let you know.

What I am trying to ask is when the netlogon.dns file is deleted then
the Netlogon service is restarted the netlogon.dns file gets re-created
with values. Where do these values come from? How does the DC know what
to put in the new netlogon.dns file?

I hope I make sense??

Regards

David

Morning all,

If we delete the NETLOGON.DNS file and restart NETLOGON it is recreated.

Where is it (NETLOGON) getting those values from?

Tell me it's not hard-coded and I can modify it somehow.

Thanks,
