Given Mark's other question... I'm assuming this is not renaming a
domain on a DC with Exchange, right? As even with Exchange 2003,
renaming when that Exchange is on a DC is not supported and could be
messy.

Done the upgrade by introducing a new 2K3 DC into the mix. No experience with
doing it with R2, but I don't expect the process to be different. Doing a
rename is much involved, but the documentations are pretty extensive and very
useful. Make sure you read all about domain rename BEFORE you begin your
first click-through.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/downloads/winsrvr/domainrename.mspx is where
you want to start. A Lab environment is highly recommended.

Subject: [ActiveDir] NT 4.O Domain Upgrade and then some...
Has anyone experienced an inplace upgrade to W2K3 SP1 (and R2) from a flat
NT4 domain and then done a domain rename with Exchange 2003 SP2 thrown in for
good measure?
Any gotcha's?
Mark
