Jay: >>This almost works but the bits are offset and I can't tell were to start because I do not know the layout of the file: fields, which fields are what and how many! Since I don't see how you managed to get what you have so far without understanding the basics of reverse engineering, I suspect that there is something more that you aren't telling us.
>>Is there anyway to tell which field is what or how many fields there are in this flat binary database file? How did you get what you have so far? How do you know it is a flat file? idx files are usually indexes into (large) data files. If I were in your shoes, I'd start by closely examining the original program to see what libraries it links against. In the case of db related stuff, you often find that you can use the very same libraries as a much more elegant way to get what you need. If that isn't an option, at least you know where to look for file format specifications. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New Yahoo!
