I second that - Utraedit rocks and I am constantly impressed when I find
some new little thing that makes my programming code/viewing files/etc with
it that much nicer/easier/more robust. This is not a 'visual' solution-
however with the ability to customize, configure, automate, organize, and
build tools and extensions - it is definitely an editor you should have for
writing perl (and many other languages) code. Very large BANG for not a lot
of BUCKS. It has a lot of features and is still a very lightweight solution
- you can plop it down on a customer site with the eval version very quickly
and easily when you need to go on site and do some quick coding or similar.
Also - something other solutions still do not have - the ability to edit
code across FTP connections allows me to leave all code onsite at customers
that I can connect to using FTP - this is a tremendous advantage!

Also!!! -- a really nice built in file comparison tool that I constantly
find new uses for.

Also!!!! -- built in file system conversion when switching between systems
(DOS,MAC,UNIX)

I could go on and on - you get the idea... If you still want a 'visual' IDE
for perl at least use this as your fall back for everthing else including as
a Notepad replacement.

I should be getting a nickel for every person I recommend this to ... They
always end up loving it!

John

Subject: IDE for perl development?

I've finally committed myself to learn Perl. Is there a mature integrated
development environment available? If not, what are the recommendations for
Windows otherwise?

Thanks,
    Steve
