I can't reproduce what you seem to be describing, even by duplicating
"print header" statements. Perhaps you could produce a small, self
contained script that demonstrates what you mean.
Also, you might want to consider that the problem may not be related to
Perl. I would be surprised if such a problem had not been noticed before
now. Your web server configuration perhaps?
Thanks Brian, I have checked the web server. I'm running IIS 5 on Windows
2000. As I noted in my last email if I run the same script as a "pl" it
works as intended, as a "plx" and it produces an extra HTTP header. So
perlis.dll seems to be the problem but I'm not sure how to fix it.
I agree that it's strange that no one else has reported this problem so it
must be something in my set-up. My next step is to uninstall Perl 5.8 and
re-install Perl 5.6.
