I've made some tests. Different IE versions have a different querystring max lenght. In IE6 is 1800 chars, in IE6 service pack 1 1900 chars . It depends either by versions and patches. In some cases IE tuncate querystring to its max lenght, in others it refuses to send data to server.
Linux Linx have very more space! It can handle more chars than IIS can handle! However querystring lenght depends from web server and engine, like ASP. W3Consortium suggested max lenght il 255, due to some browsers and proxy servers.
