I followed the entire conversation and decided to give this link to the
list.
You probably know my product ALP (Active Local Pages -
http://www.newobjects.com/alp)
but there is an unofficial beta of the new version (I am working on the
samples
and documentation yet). So for the non- .NET ASP programming you can use it
and ask me on the list for all the questions that are not answered in the
existing
docs.
The beta URL is:
http://www.newobjects.com/downloads/ALP11Beta-Internal.zip
It is packed without any docs so if you want some go to the official page
and download and install the previous version first and then the beta over
it.

See the shell extensions: Open with ALP/ALPFrame and ALP Settings - over ASP
file or CGI exe or directory as well ...

The beta is much more compatible with IIS and I hope classic ASP will not
die
if it can be used for desktop apps better than .NET forms (works on more
machines
and is much smaller) and also this means desktop and WEB apps can be the
same :).

Regards and sorry for disturbing you all but I think this is useful and I
promisse to
answer questions (if not all - most).

Michael

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I don't think you'd be wanting to run that
particular PWS anyway.

Cheers

: hi
: what about PWS, does that run on winxp?
: altough it is also a development server, it might help with the first
needs
:
: chose between option 1 or 2
: select "Windows NT Option Pack for Windows 95" in the dropdownbox
: download all the files
: install your very own version of the Personal Web Server.
