Actually, the longer you have worked with SQL, the more likely it is
that
you pronounce it "sequel".  So most seasoned database developers will
pronounce it that way.  Of course, the main purpose of communication is

be understood...

I always laugh when I hear someone say 'sequel', I automatically know
they
are from the marketing department and not from IT
(or aaasssppppp)
